I write about esports, competitive games and the creator economy. I’ve been covering esports for over 10 years writing for many top publications and have provided consultancy services for some international brands entering the industry.

is finally out, but already players are running into one issue; how to increase the population of their towns. It’s not immediately obvious how to get more families into your region to beef up your workforce, but it’s actually a lot simpler than you might think.throughout the launch day, but the one thing that seems to have people stumped is a lack of population growth.

If your approval rating is above 50% then at least one new family will automatically move in every month, with the possibility of more coming with higher approval ratings. They will, however, need a place to live so you will need at least one empty burgage plot for them to move into. If there isn’t a space plot for them to move into no new families will move in regardless of your approval level.

Providing you have an approval rating above 50% and a place for them to live then your population will naturally grow with new families moving in at the start of each month. However, you will need to make sure that you have enough food and fuel to sustain them, otherwise your town could end up shrinking. In some cases, you will see that the population of your town is shrinking over time, and this is down to a low approval rating.

In order to stop this from happening you will need to keep your approval rating above 25%, which most of the time shouldn’t be too difficult. Providing you don’t force massive taxes onto your citizens and have enough food and fuel for them to survive they will generally be reasonably happy, which should give you a steady growth of the population.
