Star Trek: Lower Decks' Lt. Beckett Mariner has had an incredible life in Starfleet for someone still young and in her prime years.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Summary Star Trek: Lower Decks' Lieutenant Beckett Mariner has lived an incredible life in Starfleet, but how old is she, anyway? Mariner was promoted to Lieutenant, junior grade - her second jump up to that rank - at the start of Star Trek: Lower Decks season 4.

In Star Trek: Lower Decks season 4, episode 9, "The Inner Fight," Mariner's erratic and self-destructive behavior - extreme even for her - worried her mother, Captain Carol Freeman , and her best friends, Lieutenants Brad Boimler , D'Vana Tendi , Sam Rutherford , and T'Lyn .

TNG's "The First Duty" took place in 2268, while Star Trek: Lower Decks began in 2380 with season 4 likely occurring somewhere between 2381-2383. Lower Decks has yet to establish when Beckett Mariner was born, but if she was about 18 years old in 2268, then she would be about 30 when Star Trek: Lower Decks started in 2380 and in her early 30s in season 4.

Mariner Has Ties To Star Trek: TNG & DS9 Close Mariner's checkered Starfleet career is actually extraordinary for an officer of her age, and this is even in spite of her purposeful insubordination and rule-breaking that ensures she will remain a Lower Decker. After she graduated from Starfleet Academy, where Beckett ranked at the top of her class, Mariner served on five different Starfleet ships, including the USS Atlantis and USS Quito.

And then there's the fact that Mariner knows Captain Will Riker back when he was First Officer of the USS Enterprise-D, and Riker mentored Beckett's mother, Captain Freeman. Somehow Riker even became indebted to Mariner. Her disdain of promotions aside, Beckett should probably be a First Officer or possibly even a starship Captain by now, just as she once dreamed in Starfleet Academy, but Lieutenant Mariner still has her whole life and career ahead of her in Star Trek: Lower Decks.
