Joe Biden is now confronted with the daunting task of uniting and energizing a party that has been through a long, divisive primary.

Joe Biden says he’ll name a woman as his running mate. A small handful of Democratic senators lead the list of the most likely candidates.A recent Washington Post/ABC News poll illustrated the political risk to Biden if he does not bring Sanders supporters into the fold between now and election day. The poll found that if Biden were the Democratic nominee, 80% of Sanders supporters would vote for Biden, and 15% would go to Trump.

Biden, however, is drawing support from the anti-Trump wing of the GOP: The Lincoln Project, an organization of disaffected Republicans, endorsed Biden on Wednesday. At a virtual fundraiser, Biden invited former GOP Sen. Chuck Hagel to headline the event with him. That won’t go over well with some progressives and young people who think his call for bipartisanship is naive.

Julian Brave NoiseCat, policy director of Data for Progress, a progressive research firm that has been in touch with Biden aides, said he saw a better prospect for moving Biden to the left on climate change policy than on healthcare, where Biden has staked pretty firm opposition to “Medicare for all.”“He is receptive and movable as long as progressives are willing to give him a fair shake,” NoiseCat said.

“Of course I would like him to embrace an agenda that is completely progressive, but no one gets everything they want,” Khanna said. “What is more important is that we have an honest, open and constructive dialogue about where we are coming from and what the vice president’s policies are.”

Joe Biden Owes It All to African-American VotersIn retrospect, Biden’s once-improbable nomination was again and again made possible by crucial moments of support from black voters. The number one black voter being: Barack Obama. No he doesn’t. He owes it to corporate media. It’s no surprise. His first fundraiser was with Comcast. Joe Biden called Obama the “first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy” He is a racist who doesn’t give a damn about black people when it’s not an election year
