Gov. Greg Abbott organizes “school choice” rally at the CapitolGov. Greg Abbott rallied a crowd at the Capitol to advocate for school voucher-like programs. Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick has embraced Senate Bill 8, which gets its first committee hearing Wednesday. House Speaker Dade Phelan hasn't prioritized the legislation. The centerpiece legislation for the New Jim Crow. How about swim choice. Instead of using the public pool how about I get a voucher for a swim club. Or gym choice-- instead of the rec center I get a voucher for a private gym. Book choice-- instead of using the public library I get a voucher for Amazon. Vouchers all around. Were those “free” buses that brought them to town paid for by tax payers or Abbott’s pot?
