I never buy Chinese garlic. They use herbicides to the extreme, unregulated.

This outbreak has demonstrated how dependent the US is on China for many products. Perhaps the lesson is to produce more in the US and Canada.

Mostly applies to pre-peeled garlic. Watch the show Rotten episode on garlic. Almost all peeled garlic (even the stuff touted as being from Gilroy Ca) is peeled in China.
Shipping garlic around the world is stupid. Buy locally grown food.
