The owners of a controversial bus terminal will head back to court on Monday to try to prevent the City of Columbus from shutting down operations.

on the city's west side. That's after Columbus Mayor Andrew Ginther admitted to calling previous Judge Stephanie Mingo about the case.Mayor Ginther left Judge Mingo. She said they spoke by phone the following day, and that he discussed the bus terminal that the city is going after in court.

Judge Mingo put on record that the mayor told her, "I know you care about the community. I care about the community. This Greyhound bus station is a problem for the community. We really need to do the right thing for the community and shut it down."Judge Mingo then recused herself from the case after that call in December 2023. In January 2024, Mayor Ginther told ABC6 News why he made the call.

I think it's really important as elected officials that we share information with other community leaders about what's on people's mind," said Mayor Ginther. "I called the judge after there was a homicide at that bus station that weekend to let her know how concerned people were. People in that neighborhood were afraid; they were scared, they wanted us to everything we could to make them safer.

If it's found that Mayor Ginther interfered with their clients' civil rights, he could face a first degree misdemeanor., Brad Nicodemus, is the special counsel in this case. Having the case for more than two months, he told Problem Solvers on Friday that he is still looking into case law. He will also request to interview Mayor Ginther, which has not yet been done, before he makes any decision to file charges or not.
