Jordan CulverA Change.org petition to change the date of Halloween is gaining traction and closing in on its goal of 75,000 signatures — at which point, it'll be sent to President Donald Trump.
"It's time for a Safer, Longer, Stress-Free Celebration!" the organization wrote in its petition."Let's move Halloween to the last Saturday of October!" Most of the reasons listed on the Halloween & Costume Association's petition for the change focus on child safety. The petition cites a few issues like parents not accompanying children who are out trick-or-treating and kids not carrying flashlights.According to Safe Kids Worldwide, a nonprofit dedicated to the safety of families and children, "Twice as many kids are killed while walking on Halloween than any other day of the year.
Let's move it to the last Friday in October and make it a public holiday.
No.
What else isn’t convenient for sheltered Americans? Stress free? Safer? Longer? 😂😂😂😂😂 Weekends are the worst time for Halloween because ppl are gone, more opportunities for senseless partying and drunk driving, and definitely not stress free. Hallow’s Eve is Oct 30th!
Safer? No. If anything it will make it more dangerous. If anyone would bother to look, they would find that the day of the week didn't matter where incidents were concerned. Halloween is what it is, no matter what day it falls on.
If you move Halloween because parents don't want to actually parent their children, then you need to move Christmas to May so I don't have to risk my life on icy roads to visit family! Better idea, petition your town to have trick or treating on the Saturday before Halloween!
Let’s move Christmas to 12/31 so it better suits my needs. Let’s eliminate Valentine’s Day because I’m allergic to flowers and chocolate. Let’s eliminate St. Patrick’s Day because I’m not Irish and I hate the color green. Let’s eliminate Thanksgiving to save turkeys.
That’s stupid if u move Halloween then move Christmas to July so icy roads don’t kill me and Black Friday should get removed cause I don’t want to get shot over an Xbox an make Easter eggs illegal to hide so I don’t get lost be parents watch your kids and stop taking easywayout
Never
Halloween is All Hallows’ Eve, the day before All Souls Day-inappropriate to move. Those of faith must know this... Halloween is not just candy, it’s the eve of a very sacred day in the Church.
Negative.
No! Leave October 31st alone. Declare Last Saturday Trick or treating day.... October 31st has so much tradition behind it for so many people!
If only people were engaged in things that actually matter 🤷🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🙄
Interesting
🎃 Counter petition to make it a national holiday. So you want OT pay or time off to celebrate? Sign up. 😁
How about change Super Bowl Sunday to Saturday!
Let’s move all the holidays to suit their schedules.
This has white people written all over it
Let’s not.
Can we move New Year’s Day to January 32nd? Asking for a Trumptard.
😅😅, that’s less than 1% !
Horrible idea. We’d be putting trick or treaters on the road with all the drunk drivers going to/from Halloween parties since most are held on the last Saturday of October. BIG NO!!!
Stop 🛑 ‼️ Just STOP ✋🏻!
Just wrong
To all those people worrying about changing the date of halloween, LEAVE IT ALONE! It's the 31st forever! What's so scary about October 27th? Nothing. savehalloween FridayMotivation FridayThoughts FridayReads
Let’s not!
You can change the date for trick or treating but it's called All Hallows Eve because of its place in the calendar.
It is also part of the catholic tradition. All hallow's eve, All Saints Day, All Souls' Day.
I find it disturbing that over 60,000 people have a problem with having Hallowe’en on Hallowe’en. Christmas isn’t always on a Saturday - perhaps these same folks will want to move it to the closest weekend as well. You know, for convenience!
No!
FFS yall mfs bent on ruining EVERRRRRRYTHANGGGGG
Only if it includes banning any food product with pumpkin spice. That stuff is nasty
No
Nope.
Lets move Christmas too then. And Independence day while we're at it.
Lets not! I celebrate it on the 31st because I can and no stupid petition will force me to celebrate on another day.
No
That’s ridiculous
NO It is on October 31st for a reason. Stop messing with tradition
If it got changed to November 1 would that upset many Wiccans, who call that day the First Day of Fall?
