There was a push by some King County prosecutors for the governor to veto Section 3 of SB 6105 which would prevent Seattle and unincorporated King County from passing any laws mandating a specific distance between customers and dancers. Prosecutors argued that strip clubs have historically been connected to higher rates of crime and Section 3 would take away Seattle’s ability to address these concerns with local legislation. The vast majority of strip clubs in Washington are located in Seattle.

Removing Section 3 from the bill would have made it harder to collect payment from customers, according to dancers, and put them at risk of being cited by local police for doing their jobs.
