Work to take control of the opioid crisis across the state, including tribal lands, will take a step forward when Governor Jay Inslee signs new bills into law.

Work to take control of the fentanyl and opioid crisis across the state, including tribal lands, has taken a step forward since Governor Jay Inslee just signed a number of bills into law.

One bill, known as the Lucas Petty Act, was named after a young man who passed away from fentanyl poisoning in 2022. His mother, Maria Petty, worked hard to get this legislation passed, to spare other families from similar pain.Fentanyl and opioids make up about 68% of overdose deaths in our state. The number of deaths among young people has also risen sharply.
