The president last week more than doubled tariffs on $200 billion in Chinese goods, provoking China to retaliate with tariffs on U.S. agricultural and other products. Then Trump expanded the trade war further still this week, taking the first steps to putting roughly $300 billion in additional Chinese goods under import levies.
Soybean farmers, pork producers and a growing number of other agricultural interests across a range of states — including cherry producers, corn growers and lobstermen — have complained that they are collateral damage caught in the middle of the escalating trade battle. Trump last year directed the U.S. Department of Agriculture to spend $12 billion on programs to help American farmers affected by the trade war, and White House officials are now working with GOP leaders to find a way to extend an additional $15 billion.
Trump has appeared unmoved by many of the business groups that have complained about his trade approach, but he has frequently promised to appease farmers.
President Trump doesn't care he's looking to make the deal of the century he doesn't care who he's screws in the United States to get itI feel bad for the farmers are the one that's going to get screwed the most
Dilbert J Trump will spin marginal change as a major victory and hope voters will not know really. Self-styled 'tariff msn' has much less leverage than he claims in prying concessions from the Chinese. DopeyTrump
If they hadn't sold out the country and let things get this bad, this correction would have hurt as much. Regardless, it needs to happen.
Trade wars are so easy to win. What’s all the fuss. SMF trump
Good plan realDonaldTrump! The United States has the largest deficient budget in a generation, and your plan is to spend more to fix the economic fiasco you created. And put us further in debt.

In the meantime, realDonaldTrump is encouraging states to save 50% or more on drug prices by importing drugs from Canada -- so they can take advantage of the fact our government refuses to give pharmaceutical companies free rein to set prices. Nice.
SpeakerPelosi backstabbed a Former President before by interfering. IS anyone watching certain Democrats to make sure they are not making deals with China - to drag out doing nothing until next Fall's 2020 Election? Dems have done nothing but interfere & block helping Americans
Hilarious. Lapdogs yapping at their master.
The ultimate example of political Munchausen by Proxy. DT creates the illness through ill-informed and illogical policies, then offers to supply the remedy by robbing our own coffers of the money we would not have lost in the first place.

Analysis | The hard lesson of the Donald Trump Jr. subpoena for the GOPSen. Richard Burr's subpoena has put him at-odds with his party. And it reinforces that those who can buck the Trump line often do. If we can't get you we'll get the one closest to you.. Why are so many people harassing the president and his family? Why can't our government come together and do their job? Instead, the witch hunt continues.
