Republican lawmakers in the farm belt are standing with President Donald Trump in the wake of an escalating trade war with China, which retaliated on Monday with more tariffs on agricultural goods.

Republican Senators representing the farm belt continue to back President Trump's trade war with China even as farmers keep taking the heat in the ongoing dispute.

Senator Chuck Grassley, the Iowa Republican, backed the president after China announced retaliatory measures on products such as frozen spinach, natural honey, and potassium sulfate, which is often used in fertilizers. As of 2017, the"President Trump shouldn't give up on securing an enforceable agreement that holds China accountable for its abusive trade practices," Grassley said in a statement.

But Heidi Heitkamp, the former Democratic senator who held Cramer's seat before the 2018 congressional midterms, had reservations about the escalating battle and how it would affect her former constituents and the country at large. "We need a strong, enforceable agreement and once an agreement is reached the tariffs on both sides must come off," his spokesman Kevin Smith said.

Support until your foreclosed. It’s not going to get better.

the terrace will hurt us yes the tariffs will hurt China to only it's going to hurt them longer and more than us we can hang in there until it changed to our benefit so that our country can for once benefit from trade deals and not have any more bad deals made Trump 2020

I find it very sad when a country like China can take aim at Americans.

Idiots. Every last one of them

Yes that’s a good position.

China owns a major agricultural company operating here in the us. Sygenta is owned by the Chinese government !!!

Do they realize they are borrowing that $15 mil subsidy from the country where the tariffs originated

So now we are giving farmers welfare checks? Impeach this clown already.

Fools

THE REPUBLICAN PARTY CAN & MUST TAKE CARE OF OUR FARMERS AS WE ESTABLISH THE LEVEL PLAIN FIELD FOR TRADE WITH CHINA.YOU EITHER DO IT NOW OR LATER BUT IT MUST BE DONE.

The GOP is now a suicide cult.

So did infrastructure week already happen?

If you keeping your hardly earned crypto currency on exchange or online, you are playing a dangerous game. If you like to sleep well and not to worry , get a Ledger Nano X now at discounted price.

Subsidies won't save them in the long run.

As long as they take their welfare checks

thumbs up

Thousands of businesses are going bankrupt because of Trump's ridiculous tariffs. Tens of thousands more on the way. Since Republicans hate socialism so much, why are thousands of their farmers accepting taxpayer bailouts. Taxpayers demand that money back. MAGA

Trump’s threatened China tariffs deepen GOP rift over tradeSenators found a White House meeting on trade last week “not very helpful.” There are still Republicans who actually understand economics, unlike the president. There are still Republicans who don't want to tax Americans, unlike the president, since tariffs are just a tax on Americans... Are we still pretending there are good republicans? And they’ll be “troubled” and “concerned” and nothing will change.
