If Congress doesn't implement a new eviction ban, three-quarters of a million American households could be evicted later this year, according to new research.

Goldman Sachs estimates that between 2.5 million and 3.5 million households are significantly behind on rent, owing a combined $12 billion to $17 billion to landlords. Those renters appeared to be safe from eviction until at least October until the Supreme Court last week struck down the Biden administration's ban on evictions, indicating that further action must come from Congress.

The process of recovering back rent through the emergency rental assistance program has been"disappointingly slow," Goldman Sachs analysts wrote. Even though the US Treasury Department has dispersed $25 billion to state and local governments — and has another $20 billion available — just $4.5 billion has been distributed, according to the report. The Census Bureau estimated last week that about 1.3 million people are very likely to get evicted in the next two months.

Simple solution. STOP closing shit down. GET a FUCKING Job.

That would drive house prices lower with massive oversupply and increase rental rates and led to more building of rental units .

Three quarters of a million need to get back to work then.

BSDK बच के ।।

Well start working and save your money babies

They can also get a job & start saving money.

I’ve got bad news for you: if you can’t pay your rent get out or get a job!

Oh hell no. No sympathy for people who got free stimmy money for a full year+, chose not to use it on their rent (because govt protected them from eviction!) and now that its time to FINALLY pay the piper and make good for their screwed over landlords, they want relief. GET BENT.

Will um, if people aren't paying their rent then YES they should be evicted, regardless of a pandemic or not.

There are plenty of jobs and many are simply working the system. Govt Programs like this are always used and abused.

Dem freeloaders. Pay your rent.

Get a freaking job and pay your rent. Very simple
