The disturbing video of Monday night's death — during which a white officer's knee was planted firmly on George Floyd's neck and his desperate calls for help were ignored — has prompted protests in the Minnesota city and demands for charges for the officers involved. At a news conference Wednesday, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey called on Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman to"act on the evidence before him" and press charges on the arresting officer.
"Why is the man who killed George Floyd not in jail? If you had done it or I had done it, we would be behind bars right now. And I cannot come up with a good answer to that question," Frey told a"We watched for five whole excruciating minutes as a white officer firmly pressed his knee into the neck of an unarmed, handcuffed black man," he added, noting that the arresting officer was not practicing a technique condoned by the city's police.
Frey refrained from specifying what charges he would like to see, citing a desire not to impede investigators. But Floyd's sister Bridgett went one step further on"I would like for those officers to be charged with murder because that's exactly what they did," she told the
Likely coroner’s report: George Floyd death was brought upon by “Excited Delirium”. Likely DOJ report: The officers lacked training to recognize ED. Likely Court decision: Not Guilty. How to get away with murder? Be a white police officer!
He begged them, “Please. Your knee on my neck.” That was all he asked. Just one simple humane move for his life. His murderer did not even look down to check on him. He was cuffed on the ground underneath 4 cops. Suspect of forgery nonviolent. Why did he have to crush his throat.
Get a badge and think they are above the law.
The actions of these officers is indefensible. They must be arrested and tried for murder. The racism and aggression in this country is profoundly disturbing. People should not have to live in constant fear of institutions that are supposed to protect and serve the community.
You are pushing selective outrage and happy to have guests call America racist while completely ignoring jadenhayden . Your guest said imagine what would happen if the victim was white. Crickets from leftist media that’s what
I do not understand the body language of the cop keeping his hands in his pockets while killing the man. Any thoughts?
He didn't have a chance, even when EMT showed up. Police put him in medical crisis, & EMTs applied no basic life-saving measures; just casually chucked him away, like an animal, & Just listen to deafening silence from Joe Biden & Trump. They're deaf to this degree of injustice.
They murdered a man over a $20 bill. Is THAT the price of a life these days?
yeah the video makes it pretty obvious he should be charged.
Oh, quit crying lady. I'm sure he had paper on him, so they actually did society a favor.
Trump LOVES Police Brutality....Remember that in November America. TrumpIsRacist TrumpGenocide
Absolutely they be charged as a hate crime. And given the death penalty
I haven't seen a single legitimate reason not to arrest these murderers. The basis of any arrest is Intent and Probable Cause. When this cop ignored Mr Floyd's cries that he couldn't breathe, he crossed over the line to Intent! JusticeForFloyd
I was weeping. I was in bed with my husband just crying after seeing the video on the news. That was not policing. That was abuse. That was criminal.
Fingers crossed for a charge AND conviction!
She's right!
I agree--they SHOULD be charged!
