Freebies the hook as Apple, Disney take on Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, HBO

Nov. 12 is the date for Disney, which is well established in cable with ESPN, the Disney Channel, Freeform and several networks new to the fold from the 2018 21st Century Fox acquisition, like FX and National Geographic. WarnerMedia's HBO Max follows in May, with NBC's Peacock also set for spring. Many viewers have found they could live with just Netflix and Hulu streamed through their TVs. If they wanted more, like their favorite channels, new, cable TV alternatives from YouTube TV, Hulu TV, Sling TV and AT&T have popped up to serve them.

We asked TV viewers on Facebook and Twitter how they were faring. Spoiler alert: Of the ones looking to add to their portfolio, it was Disney+ hands down.

Correct. People will NOT pay for all of them.

We dumped cable, so they found away to give us cable again. Gatekeeping content like this is a bad move. Instead of making some money with broad streaming services they want to maximize profits -- and that's gonna bite them hard.

Too many services & not enough time or money to look at them all.

It depends what you are looking for. Appletv Plus is 100 percent original programming, Disney Plus will be content king with all the Disney entities and Disney themselves, and Netflix is both original content, and content from everyone

It’s way too much for people to pay for and deal with. This will backfire on companies because people are already finding it overwhelming and costly.
