) - Beginning in the fall of 2024, students at Foley High School will have an option to take an elective class never offered before. It’s part of the Baldwin County School System’s Career Technical Education program. The classes will focus on preparing students for a career in law enforcement and the demand has been greater than the school expected.
Foley PD agreed to provide a certified instructor and will begin teaching classes in the fall. Introduction to Public Safety will begin this year with a second course focusing on forensic science offered in 2025. The department was eager to step up and happy to see the interest by so many young people.
Students in the third year of the program would be eligible for internships and could receive some professional accreditations before ever entering college or the workforce. That’s something more and more students are seeing value in and since this curriculum is part of the Career Tech program, it also places more value on them as a job candidate.
