We are witnessing a sixth grade student that has more courage than members of the USA government. In this CLEAR and PRESENT DANGER situation we no longer have a competent government.

These are the people indoctrinating your children. Congrats.

That's B.S. There's NO JUSTICE. People in prison for No Crime that serves a sentence they didn't commit..People getting away with a slap on the hand..Then ALL THE CRIMES IN POLITICS AND FROM PEOPLE THAT HAVE MONEY AND POWER..MY FLAG IS HUNG UPSIDE DOWN...

Its Florida Guy's

The land of the free....😂😂😂 Treating a child like a felon is a powerful achievement. Nothing justifies such a reaction. What kind of constitutional state is that? Poor US.

It’s Florida nothing to see.

Pathetic. So much for freedom.

Sad day for our kids

NOT IN TEXAS!!

The unprofessional escalation by the substitute is the key to the whole story. None of the parties involved should be in the position they are now in. Teaching is hard to do well and should be compensated appropriately. Florida

That's excessive.

Arrested? What country and what year is this...we made so much progress still so backward.

Please break off into the sea and float away

Only in China and Iran and Russia and Saudi Arabia and Venezuela and other authoritarian nations would you expect to see this. Losing our way.

I think the report stated that stages 2 and 3 are the escalation and when an assault occurred the school officer by regulation was compelled to arrest. Why not always report all of story not just selective portions. And yes demanding patriotism is not right nor is teaching hate

Wouldn't this be a violation of his 1st Amendment rights?

This is what happens when teachers, school administrators and law enforcement are ignorant about the Constitution, the First Amendment and that pesky free speech thing.

A kid cannot be a conscientious objector? Is the kid's constitutional rights not being violated in this instance?

While I agree he was within his first amendment right, he acted disrespectful when the situation escalated. If I was ever told by teacher to leave the class room because I didn’t do the pledge I would stand up and leave lol and not make a scene. Then I would take it to court lol.

Since when do we ARREST elementary school kids...for anything? This is absolute nonsense. And since nobody is required to pledge allegiance to anything in this democracy, why was it an issue at all?

Let me see if I get this: you can burn the American flag which is covered under our constitution but you get arrested for not saying the pledge of allegiance? Isn’t this also covered? What am I missing?

The adult had many other options. Pure drama. How could there have been an arrest for a non-criminal act?

It’s Florida folks, move along. Nothing to see here.

Lawyer up First Ammendment violation.

Polk county is probably the most ignorant and racist populated county in Florida

When the teacher is an idiot...

If this kid has a college fund, pls send me the link.

There should not have been an disputes. He doesn’t have to take the pledge.

If you still can’t see there’s such a thing as white privilege then you are dumber than a box of rocks. Everyone should be shouting 1A and for the teacher as well police officer to be fired. Ridiculous

13% once again

normal country lmao

ARRESTED? Is this what they tell teachers to do when a child misbehaves?

Patriotism is not allegiance to the Flag, or to the President. Patriotism is allegiance to the country and to your fellow countrymen, and anyone who says otherwise is a liar or is trying to get your vote.

Future Democrat voter

Mandatory forced allegiance is what 'Freedom and Liberty' is all about, right?

Our schools and universities are indoctrinating children with anti-american Socialism. Your tax dollars literally funding the downfall of this nation.

America, the land of the free. 🙄

LakelandPD needs to dropallcharges. And by the way, watch this:

I blame his parents.

WV State Board of Educ v. Barnette, 319 U.S. 624, is a landmark decision by the United States Supreme Court holding that the Free Speech Clause of the First Amendment protects students from being forced to salute the American flag or say the Pledge of Allegiance in public school.

Florida sixth-grader charged with misdemeanor after refusing to recite Pledge of AllegianceSchool officials said the student was punished for being disruptive, not for refusing to recite the pledge. What the hell? I only graduated high school in 2012 and i never remember people being forced to say the pledge. My school always made it clear that you could abstain if you wanted. That kid has more knowledge of the 1st Amendment than the POTUS! ACLU , you awake?

Florida student arrested for disturbance after he refused to say the Pledge of Allegiance, police sayA Florida middle school student was arrested earlier this month, after he refused to say the Pledge of Allegiance, and allegedly became disruptive when he was kicked out of class. Congratulations liberals your leftist ideology has corrupted the youth In another generation or two the country will fall and what was once a great nation will become a Banana Republic cesspool Joy I'm glad this young person stood up to nationalism. Pledging to flags is silly. The problems we have in our community start at home with the parents.
