Florida Lawmakers Pass Bill Allowing Armed Teachers

The Florida House of Representatives passed a school-security bill allowing teachers to be armed and will send the legislation to Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis, who is expected to sign it into law.The measure is aimed at implementing recommendations.

What could possibly go wrong with with this plan? Really more of a stupid idea than an actual plan. Plans are usually better thought out than this.

Arming teachers without intensive & regular training is a prescription for disaster. Weapon retention & safety is a nightmare

As a FL resident with kids in both H.S & grammar school, I welcome this. It’s optional and teachers have to be certified to do so. Gun free zones are nothing but an invitation to crazies. Security has increased at school to the point you can’t walk your kid in anymore.

I support this but only if the teachers have gone through a legit training course. Typical conceal carry courses are not enough. Police academy is too much. Find a practical EFFECTIVE real training in between these two.

Just because cops have negligent discharges in schools doesn't mean teachers will too.
