No injuries were reported in a fire that burned down a lodge on the banks of Lake Louise near Glennallen this week, according to Alaska State Troopers.
The owner of Point Lodge was inside the building when the fire started early Friday morning, troopers spokesman Tim DeSpain said Saturday. The lodge owner woke up around 2:30 a.m. and realized the lodge’s roof was ablaze, and he was able to get out safely, DeSpain said. Troopers are still investigating the cause and origin of the fire, but DeSpain said no foul play is suspected.as a family-owned, year-round “wilderness adventure” destination that was built in the 1980s.
Alaska State Fire Marshals were notified of the fire just before 3 a.m. Friday, DeSpain said. He said the 12,000-square-foot lodge is located outside of a fire service area, and that the fire “resulted in a total loss.”“This is a huge loss to the community,” one social media user wrote. “Thoughts and prayers to everyone affected by this tragedy.”Annie Berman covers health care for the Anchorage Daily News.
