NEW: In a five-point statement, China outlined its position on the Russian invasion of Ukraine, stressing that the 'sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries' should be respected — a principle that 'applies equally to Ukraine.'

The two authoritarian powers have fostered deeper ties, including in military cooperation, as tensions with the U.S. have soared over the past several years — raising major alarms in Washington. China "firmly advocates" abiding by the UN Charter and respecting the territorial integrity of all countries, including Ukraine.

China believes "all parties" should exercise restraint and protect civilian life and property to prevent a large-scale humanitarian crisis.

I some how think they will change this belief when they attack Taiwan.

GeorgeTakei China probably realized that failure on this point might lead some unidentified country to declare Tiawan as a free and independent territory and decide to send in 'peacekeeping' forces.

Like China does this😂

China & the Chinese don't want reunification to go down like this. Not if it takes 1000 years, and China *can* wait that long. This is the right position.

GeorgeTakei Useless, we all know China & India are Putin's work-around to deal with easing the sanctions he knew wold likely come. They will funnel funds and material for Russia. Sanctions are virtually useless against Putin, especially in this situation, and take too long.

They're not ready to attack Taiwan yet

China reiterated that Russia's 'legitimate security demands' on NATO expansion 'should be taken seriously and properly addressed.'
