The BLM Alaska Fire Service reports increasing temperatures may also increase fire activity for the afternoon of June 19.

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Within the last few days there have been recurring thunderstorms combined with gusts of winds on the McDonald Fire. The BLM Alaska Fire ServiceIt is recommended to use caution and keep headlights on while driving on the Richardson Highway because smoke may cause impaired visibility.

Firefighters are continuing to put out hot spots to protect cabins along 5 Mile Creek. However, the crews have completed sprinkler installation in the cabins and have cleared burnable vegetation.
