Agents from the FBI, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, the U.S. Coast Guard and the Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Office searched the offices and two additional vessels owned by Truth Aquatics of Santa Barbara, owner of the Conception, on which the deadly blaze occurred last Monday, FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller said.
The only survivors, the captain and four crew members, were on deck when the flames erupted shortly after 3 a.m. and were able to escape in an inflatable lifeboat, investigators said.

Only 1 crew dead, all passengers, means crew abandoned ship before attempting rescue. Using arcane laws to circumvent liability, failing to conduct autopsies, means victims families will never get any justice. Crew had oxygen tanks to breath in smoke, yet somehow no rescue? The people in the boat nearby said they heard no screams.When interviewed immediately after the crew that escaped were traumatized&speaking openly abt their grief&none mentioned screams. Families know their loved ones didn’t suffer but; why no smoke or carbon monoxide detectors?

Victims of the California boat fire34 people died when the dive boat Conception caught fire off the Ventura County coast on Sept. 1, leading to the deadliest maritime disaster in modern California history. Using that sparkler photo treads into Daily Mail territory. I saw a doc recently where the passengers on a plane that was crashing into the sea were told Not to inflate their lifejackets until they were conscious after impact, and nearly all did before, being worried. They all died, of course. Is this a similar case? Rip terrible accident
