A man was killed and his passenger critically injured Sunday night when their pickup truck hit a tree near Antioch , according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
The identity of the victim, a 25-year-old Antioch man, has not yet been released. The passenger, a 27-year-old man from Antioch, was brought to a hospital with what police said were life-threatening injuries. The crash happened at around 10:45 p.m. near the intersection of Deep Lake Road and North Avenue, police said.
The 25-year-old was driving a 2022 Ford F-350 pickup truck west on North Avenue at an apparently high rate of speed when the truck left the road for an unknown reason, authorities said.
