Family of double-amputee fatally shot by Huntington Park police says officers murdered him

Family members of a double-amputee shot and killed by Huntington Park police officers last week after he threatened them with a knife are calling the shooting murder.

Lowe's family and members of the Coalition for Community Control Over the Police held a news conference in front of the Huntington Park Police Department Monday, condemning the shooting as another example of police brutality. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department is now heading up the investigation into the officer-involved shooting. The police officers who fired are now on paid, administrative leave, which is standard operating protocol.

Everybody see the video? Of course it goes against everything the family said. He’s using his stumpy legs to get away, yes. He’s also swinging a butcher knife at the officers as they close in to detain him for stabbing someone. Good shoot. Piss off with your lies, family.

No not murder. Just another bad criminal taken care of. All the same. Doing the same things. Media start doing your job with facts!

This guy was no saint , just stabbed someone but cops need to know how to deal with mentally ill better . Now if the guy just murdered someone then Justice was served. We dont need animals amongst us.

Sigh. If you aren’t trained properly to deescalate the situation or use anything but a gun you shouldn’t be a cop. The guy had no legs!!! Unbelievable.

I’ll be damned that the true victim has no rights while this invalid psycho family will sue and most likely win $$$$ while we pay those lawsuits.

I mean, retreating? A double amputee? They could have walked up to him. But I am no expert on amputee speed trials. This really doesn’t make sense

I am afraid it has come to a point where the cops are going to shot at will. If ur deaf ur automatically dead, if u have a mental illness such as mentally challenge ur dead, if u got autism ur dead, if ur blind ur dead.

Threatening officers with a knife occurred AFTER he had already stabbed someone. Police arrived on the scene for a reason. Hoping the person he stabbed is able to recover.

If he was white he would have been arrested and put to jail! Just saying! Do you agree?
