If passed into law, a California bill proposal would give employees the 'right to disconnect' from communicating with their employers during non-working hours.

Enforcement mechanisms outlined in the bill give employees the right to file complaints with the California Labor Commissioner if they experience a pattern of violations by their employer. Penalties for violating the proposed law would include fines. Notably, this bill would make California the first state to formalize such protections for workers, following the lead ofconducted by Ford sheds light on the attitudes of workers globally towards work flexibility and compensation.

However, willingness to accept pay cuts for flexibility varies significantly by age group. Younger generations, such as Millennials and Gen Z, are most open to the tradeoff, with 60% and 56% respectively indicating their willingness. In contrast, Baby Boomers are the least inclined, with only 33% expressing a similar sentiment.

The survey also highlights a concern among Americans about workplace stress, with 72% stating that they do not believe it's worthwhile to work at a job that increases personal stress levels.
