Facebook bans Israeli company and takes down hundreds of its accounts aimed at manipulating elections in Africa and southeast Asia.

Facebook has banned an Israeli company and taken down hundreds of its accounts that were aimed at manipulating elections in Africa and southeast Asia, the company announced on Thursday.

"This activity originated in Israel and focused on Nigeria, Senegal, Togo, Angola, Niger and Tunisia along with some activity in Latin America and Southeast Asia," Nathaniel Gleicher, Facebook's head of cybersecurity policy, wrote on the company's site Thursday. One example of activity by these inauthentic accounts showed that one of them had posted an incendiary statement about a critic of the president of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Facebook said.

A representative for Archimedes Group did not immediately respond to requests for comment from ABC News.

I wish I ever knew who is right. Palestinians or Israelis. I never seem to know for certain who is the victim of the bad.

Why is AIPAC so silent on this?

Ha..they removed 200+ these Israel spy's while in same time remove millions of page if they just mention anti Israel facts, even it is truth...just sugar from FB so it looks like they are not pro apartheid regime

7NY They’ve been doing the same in our elections but no one seemed to give a damn...hopefully this is the beginning of the end of the Israeli Propaganda machine abusing social media to push Netanyahu’s fascist agenda

I’m assuming somebody else already has dibs on manipulating those elections

7NY Awesome - how about addressing the USA Next?

Twitter is always the best

Yeah Facebook and Twitter are bad about banning people, unless you are pro-killing children, beheading people, and anti-American...both sites are very left wing bias...trust me I know

If the accounts are taking down African tyrants and dictators, please leave them. And may I say, accounts of Rusdians supporting Trump should be bleached.

Funny. They're doing the exact same thing in The U.S. and Europe. But the left-wing communists all called it a conspiracy theory, until it became so obvious that they decided to celebrate it instead.

SelectiveBanning lol

anti-Semitism that is

No shit! After Apartheid, Mormons are moving in.

Facebook Anti Semetic underneath all the politics.

Yeow!!

Really? Now Facebook going have problems for real. DeleteFacebook

Uh-oh! Queue the Zionist trolls in 3, 2, 1...

whoops we accidentally manipulated election results!

And it strikes again. The politicisation of ad tech is the single biggest threat to democracy.

Spreading information is referred to as 'manipulating' by people who don't like the information.
