Nearly as important as their votes is the billionaires’ money. Twenty-six billionaires say they’ve donated money to a campaign this year, 26 also say they’ve given to a political action committee, ten say they’ve attended a fundraiser and four say they’ve hosted a fundraiser themselves. Only seven of the 42 respondents say they haven’t done anything to support a candidate this year.
None of the billionaires who answered the survey say they’re switching their vote from the Democratic nominee in 2016 to the Republican nominee in 2020, or vice versa, though four billionaires who didn’t vote in 2016 say they’re voting now. Two are voting for Trump; two for Biden. One billionaire who didn’t vote in 2016 is again not voting this year, and one who voted for Trump in 2016 is staying on the sidelines this election.
