San Francisco recorded its 16th homicide on Tuesday in the Excelsior. Despite efforts by paramedics, a person died at scene from a gunshot.

San Francisco recorded its 16th homicide on Tuesday night after police officers from Ingleside station responded to a shooting around Mission Street and Silver Avenue.

Officers arrived at the scene at 11:09 p.m. and found a person suffering from an apparent gunshot wound, the San Francisco Police Department wrote in an email. Despite efforts by officers and medical responders the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.to stay up to date on everything in the Mission District and San Francisco.

Mission Local reached out to San Francisco’s Medical Examiner to verify the victim’s identity but we did not receive a response before this story was published. This remains an open investigation by SFPD’s Homicide Unit.
