World hurtling to climate danger zone, brakes half-pulled

Temperatures on Earth will shoot past a key danger point unless greenhouse gas emissions fall faster than countries have committed, the world’s top body of climate scientists said Monday, warning of the consequences of inaction but also noting hopeful signs of progress.

Governments agreed in the 2015 Paris accord to keep global warming well below 2 degrees Celsius this century, ideally no more than 1.5 degrees Celsius . Yet temperatures have already increased by over 1.1 degrees Celsius since pre-industrial times, resulting in measurable increases in disasters such as flash floods, prolonged droughts, more intense hurricanes and longer-burning wildfires, putting human lives in danger and costing governments hundreds of billions of dollars to confront.

“To keep the 1.5-degree limit agreed in Paris within reach, we need to cut global emissions by 45% this decade,” said Guterres, the U.N. chief. “But current climate pledges would mean a 14% increase in emissions.”

Disney ‘most magical place on earth’ now ‘most hypocritical, woke’: Florida Lt. Gov. Jeanette NúñezFlorida Lt. Gov. Jeanette Núñez, R., joined “Fox & Friends Weekend” Saturday and argued that Disney, being the “most magical place on earth,” has now digressed into the “most hypocritical and woke” place. You think Disney is bad, you should check out the Republican Party. They can't shut up about God, and yet they worship Trump, who is everything Jesus condemned and warned against. And the GOP and Republican state senators are the most 2 faced and hypocrisy filled gathering in America. But do keep lecturing conservatives on qualities, values, credibility and respect by all means. Sorry to interrupt your party meeting. For the record…….you will lose this battle…..

New Model Suggests That Europa Has an Oxygen-Rich Ocean Very Similar to EarthJupiter's moon Europa is a prime candidate in the search for life. The frozen moon has a subsurface ocean, and evidence indicates it's warm, salty, and rich in life-enabling chemistry. How hard could it be to send a probe to study that...and not contaminate that environment with our own virus /bacteria .... or... (I don't know)? It seems really hard. i bet there's octopus cousins down there
