A new report from the UN’s top body of climate scientists is warning that temperatures will go beyond a key danger point unless countries worldwide cut greenhouse emissions faster than they are currently committed to doing

, putting human lives in danger and costing governments hundreds of billions of dollars to confront.

Ongoing investments in fossil fuel infrastructure and clearing large swaths of forest for agriculture undermine the massive curbs in emissions needed to meet the Paris goal, the report found. “Limiting warming to 1.5C requires global greenhouse gas emissions to peak before 2025 at the latest and be reduced by 43% by 2030,” he said.

Why 'Fixing Earth First' before Going to Space is a MistakeThere are many reasons why we need to keep going to space, not the least of which have to do with saving Earth. If we worked as hard at saving earth as we are trying to live in space, we wouldn't have to be trying to go to space. I worked in the space industry and know its myths well. Many valid points here, but a false dichotomy. First: Space was and is pushed not for its pos. side-effects, but for military reasons. Second: You have to ask if pushing a different technology would be even more beneficial. Gold. We’re going to space looking for gold. To put into our electronics that are going to save earth.

New Model Suggests That Europa Has an Oxygen-Rich Ocean Very Similar to EarthJupiter's moon Europa is a prime candidate in the search for life. The frozen moon has a subsurface ocean, and evidence indicates it's warm, salty, and rich in life-enabling chemistry. How hard could it be to send a probe to study that...and not contaminate that environment with our own virus /bacteria .... or... (I don't know)? It seems really hard. i bet there's octopus cousins down there
