Disney CEO Bob Chapek touts the 'phenomenal success' of Marvel Studios' DoctorStrange at the box office, previews 'incredibly strong' 2022 slate of Marvel, Avatar and Pixar on Disney earnings call:

✖ Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is making magic — and money — at the box office. The Marvel Studios sequel, teaming franchise stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Elizabeth Olsen with Spider-Man trilogy director Sam Raimi, cast a spell over the weekend with a global $450 million, Marvel's fourth-best worldwide opening behind Avengers: Endgame, Avengers: Infinity War, and Spider-Man: No Way Home.

"[Doctor Strange 2] opened to roughly $450 million worldwide this past weekend. Domestically, it was the second-highest opening of the pandemic era and the 11th-highest opening of all time," Chapek said on the call, also touting the streaming success of Pixar's Turning Red, Lucasfilm's Star Wars: The Book of Boba Fett, and Marvel Studios Original series Moon Knight on Disney+.

After experimenting with day-and-date releases for Marvel blockbuster Black Widow and the Dwayne Johnson-starring Jungle Cruise last summer via Disney+ Premier Access, a response to theater closures amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Disney returned to a guaranteed 45-day exclusive theatrical window for Marvel movies Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and Eternals.

Josh Hawley wants to punish Disney by taking copyright law back to 1909 and that sucksI can’t believe I’m taking Disney’s side on anything I don't subscribe to this point of view. That hurts everyone! Stop being so childish jesus Well I want Josh Hawley to go back to living in a trailer park with no internet and to never hear from him again. We don't always get what we want.

Disney hasn’t found itself in this much trouble since 1941 | OpinionMore than 80 years ago, the original iteration of the company was confronted by an internal revolt that pitted the founding visionary against his pen-and-ink scriveners. Equating Disney not paying their writers enough in 1941 to them standing up (against) Florida’s Don’t Say Gay Law is just terrible framing. Do better
