Multiple agencies in Florida battled a two-alarm commercial structure fire that sent thick, black smoke billowing into the air Saturday.

Destin Fire Rescue was called out for a commercial structure fire at 172 Harbor Blvd. Crews arrived to find heavy smoke and flames as the building’s third floor was fully engulfed and a second alarm was called immediately, according to the Destin Fire Rescue’s Facebook page. According to Destin fire officials, crews got the fire under control and several firefighters had to be transported or treated for minor injuries.

Okaloosa Island Professional Firefighters, South Walton Fire District, Fort Walton Beach Fire Department, North Bay Fire Control District and Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office assisted Destin Fire Rescue and crews were able to contain the fire quickly, authorities said. No civilian injuries were reported but several firefighters had to be taken to the hospital or treated for minor injuries, according to Destin Fire Rescue.Most Read
