Delta has avoided the fallout from the prolonged 737 Max grounding, posting first-quarter earnings Wednesday that beat Wall Street's expectations for both profit and revenue.

Delta Air Lines CEO Ed Bastian said he's confident Boeing will figure out a software fix for the 737 Max jets implicated in two crashes that killed 346 people over five months.

The airline industry has been reeling from the aftermath of the crashes in Ethiopia on March 10 and Indonesia on Oct. 29. Boeing said it will cut 20 percent of its 737 Max production as it works on a software fix. Bad data feeding into the aircraft's automated flight system is suspected as a possible cause of the crashes.

Boeing is expected to launch a new midsize aircraft, the 797, which could potentially be backlogged as a result of continued troubles with the its 737 Max.

We the flying public do not care how much profit you make. We care about our safety. Get that straight or lose us forever. What is hard to believe is the the FAA and Boeing delayed recalling the jet when it was obvious to all there was something very wrong with the jet's function. Almighty dollar has first call.

Pilots of doomed Ethiopian Airlines 737 MAX jet followed Boeing procedures: reportPilots of the doomed Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 MAX followed emergency procedures specified by the maker, the Wall Street Journal reports. I was a technical writer for this company for years. Boeing is cheap. They laid off all the writers because they didn’t think they mattered. This plan crashed due to inadequate manuals and a crappy online course. A software patch won’t fix it.

Pilots Take Aim at Instructions for Boeing 737 MAXSome pilots are expressing concern that crews should have been provided more-detailed instructions about disabling a suspect flight-control system after the first fatal crash of a Boeing 737 MAX airliner in Indonesia. Can’t wait to become a human sacrifice to some companies bottom line! So are we to understand that even though the 737 had a computer anomaly that generated a runaway trim, pilots were not instructed how to override it? The computer code anomaly should have prevented an Airworthiness certificate being issued at the outset💚🇺🇸 If it's a Boeing I sure as hell ain't going......
