It was a weapon equipped for war: a semi-automatic with 100-round double-drum magazines."An orchestra of metal and hellfire built by calloused hands," says aConnor Betts used the high-powered .223 caliber firearmin a 30-second spasm of violence in Dayton, Ohio, authorities said. The mass shooting ended when the 24-year-old gunman, clad in body armor, was killed by a police bullet.
Kentucky-based Anderson Manufacturing confirmed that it sold the lower receiver, the part of the gun that houses the trigger, that was used in the Dayton shooting. But it remains unclear how the weapon reached its final form. Was it purchased as a receiver and built to resemble a rifle? That would be legal.
"This is part of the gun industry's logic," he added,"to make these determinations so chaotic that it really renders the law largely meaningless. We need a clear law, and a law that regulates particularly lethal weapons, the same that I carried at ATF, differently than a gun that you would use to hunt."
Unlike standard pistols, rifles and shotguns, short-barreled rifles fall under the National Firearms Act. That means they can only be purchased after buyers pass a more comprehensive background check performed by the ATF, pay $200 and wait a period of months.
blazer_raid For the record, if you're hunting a migratory bird you're limited to three shells.
He got dead because of it! Looks to me like using it to kill others will get you dead as a doornail. So i guess it backfired all the way!
omg.. what was he thinking?
If anyone should use these it's terrorists. It may give people time to escape when the damn thing jams on them.
No military uses these.
Why wasn't he apprehended by the schools and marked down by the Law & Police so he wouldn't have been able to purchase the '100-round magazines or rifle? Why are evidently crazy ppl like these w/ demonstrated violent tendencies allowed to roam around w/ normal innocent ppl
There isn’t a professional military on the planet that uses AR-15s, for example. Dual drum mag? I call that less reloading during a range session. Outside of that the standard 30 round mags would be my preference in a defensive situation.

Interesting, because I'm pretty sure these aren't used in combat.
And a big E Warren supporter.
But, but, but it's only a SEMI-AUTOMATIC,..... With a fire rate of three rounds per second,... so, do the math ! 🙄😡
Geeeez..wtf!! If I tried buying this I'd end up strung up somewhere..SMH
Damn good thing, too. You never know, there you are out hunting and you come upon a couple of deer in a machine gun nest with a .50 caliber, you're not gonna take THAT out with a shotgun. Surprised he didn't have grenades: I heard squirrels got body armor.
21WFMJ Now tell me about those shotgun rounds in the background
Well isn’t that just wonderful!! NOBODY needs that!!
I need this to protect myself from 'tyranny.' (At least that's what Fox News tells me...)
you go to war with this you gonna die
Not only the attacker we should blame, but, the system who let him access This automatic weapon...! 😔💔
How much was that and the gun he used?
These are legal to buy for personal use? Why?
Putting a shorter barrel on a rifle/pistol doesn't increase it's lethality. If anything, it decreases it's accuracy, making it arguably less lethal at longer ranges. It would make it 'more concealable' but again, that has nothing to do with it's lethality.
