David N. Dinkins, the first Black mayor of New York City who worked to unite a divided city as it battled a high crime rate, died Monday at his home in Manhattan at 93 years old, according to the city’s police department.
Mr. Dinkins, a Democrat, was elected mayor in 1989 at the end of a municipal scandal that plagued then-Mayor Ed Koch’s third term. He defeated Mr. Koch in a mayoral primary and went on to beat the Republican candidate, then-U.S. Attorney Rudolph Giuliani.

Mayor Dinkins was an elegant and humble man who worked to truly unite a divided NYC unlike the current mayor, the incompetent Bill DiBlasio and his cohort, the subhuman miscreant Andrew Cuomo who is hands down America’s worst governor.
I lived in N.Y when Dinkins was mayor, the man literally destroyed N.Y.C, his legacy as mayor can be described as darkest days in N.Y.C history, rampant crime, drugs, homelessness, and thousands lost their lives due to his negligence.
He more importantly known as the worst NYC mayor ever until deBlasio took that title away from him.
