Lawyer and Dallas native Paul Alexander, one of two remaining users of the iron lung in the United States, died at the age of 78. He had been using the device since contracting polio in 1952. Despite his dependence on the iron lung, Alexander pursued higher education and worked as a lawyer and teacher. His brother expressed gratitude for the support received through a fundraiser, which helped Alexander live his last few years stress-free and will also cover his funeral expenses.
