Daily death counts are contaminated data sets because they include or exclude other vital numbers. But, whatever, I'm sure the actuaries at your paper have this under control.

There are still some countries who have not declared their COVID-19 stats (e.g. North Korea) whilst others ‘deliberately’ misinform WHO about their true numbers. (they know who they are & the reason for understating). Unhelpful in global pandemic when authentic stats are crucial.

And they are also overstating the number of Covid-19 deaths in the US. Someone could be run over by a bus but because they tested positive they are being listed as having died from Covid-19
