New York is considering converting hotels and dorms into emergency hospital beds .

New York City hospitals are just 10 days from running out of"really basic supplies," Mayor Bill de Blasio said late Sunday. De Blasio has called upon the federal government to boost the city's quickly dwindling supply of protective equipment. The city also faces a potentially deadly dearth of ventilators to treat those infected by the coronavirus. (AP Photo/John Minchillo) ASSOCIATED PRESS Topline: New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Thursday that the government is working to open a 1,000 bed overflow facility in each of the New York City’s five boroughs and is considering dorms and hotels that could be converted to emergency beds, as the nation’s largest city — now the epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak in the country — struggles to handle the surge of coronavirus patients. The state’s death toll rose to 385 on Thursday, Cuomo announced in his daily press briefing, while the number of patients hospitalized is 40% higher than it was on Wednesday; the governor said that hospitals would more than likely be overwhelmed by need. “We’re adding to the hospital capacity every way we can,” Cuomo said during his daily press conference. “Almost any scenario that is realistic will overwhelm the capacity of the current healthcare system. We cannot get the curve down low enough so that we don’t overwhelm the hospital capacity. We have to increase the hospital capacity.” Cuomo said the goal is to have a 1,000 bed overflow facility in Queens, Brooklyn, the Bronx, Manhattan, Staten Island — as well as Nassau, Suffolk, Westchester and Rockland. The governor added they are looking at dorms and hotels to increase current hospital bed capacity; the state recently opened up a new overflow facility in the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. Cuomo also stressed the need for more ventilators, as COVID-19 patients stay on machines for 11-21 days, more than twice the average number of days of non-COVID-19 patients. Big number: New York has the largest number of coronavirus cases in the country at 37,258. Chief critic: Cuomo said he was very “disappointed” by the stimulus bill the Senate passed on Wednesday because it only deals with coronavirus-related expenses, and not does not help state and local governments. Key Quote: “I find it irresponsible. I find it reckless….When this is all over I’m going to give [Congress members] a piece of my mind.” Follow me on Read more: Forbes

Cuomo he is the right man for that job as a leader! He should have been better prepared as a govenor... And you wonder why Fortune is beating Forbes in the marketplace?

Coronavirus live updates: Cuomo calls stimulus bill 'reckless''When the pressure is on is when you really see what people are made of.' Gov. Cuomo calls response to state's coronavirus crisis 'inspiring,' saying people from other states have volunteered to help, including medical and mental health professionals. Just so the airlines and Boeing knows...I will never fly again. I hope they enjoy the tax payers money Very scary numbers. 1500 discharged 👏

Cuomo knocks Trump's claim about NY and ventilatorsAfter New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said he needed 30,000 ventilators for the state of New York in order to be prepared for the 'apex' of its caseload -- which his team predicted was two to three weeks away -- he criticized the federal government for offering up a fraction of that need. Later Wouldn't trust that Cuomo any farther than 1 centimeter! He seems to be a dictator not an elected Governor! He has already raped the Second-Amendment to death!!

Cuomo Mocks FEMA Shipment: ‘You Want A Pat On The Back For Sending 400 Ventilators?’During a press briefing, the New York governor reported an alarming infection rate and requested more federal aid. Our next president of the United States a real men have you listened to him this morning talking about us Americans race color religion old and young gay and poor. That’s a man I want to lead us. And he speaks English.

Cuomo Mocks FEMA Shipment: ‘You Want A Pat On The Back For Sending 400 Ventilators?’ New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said in a press conference today that there are now nearly 26,000 reported coronavirus cases in the state. He mocked a recent shipment from FEMA: “You want a pat on the back for sending 400 ventilators?” by skleb1234 skleb1234 I heard that too, and while he said that he also showed a graphic where he was only using 756 ventilators currently. 400 would go a long way to providing help to the expected need. With these 400, Your ventilator need is covered for nearly another week. skleb1234 Ventilators are in short supply but won't be for long, because major US auto companies are making them full steam ahead as we speak. Clearly somebody highly placed in his party got to Cuomo, and demanded that he stop his recent trend of agreeing with Trump. skleb1234 President Cuomo is doing a great job.

Cuomo details increase in coronavirus cases: ‘We’re now looking at a bullet train’NY Gov. Cuomo says the increase in the number of coronavirus cases continues 'unabated' in New York . 'In fact, the rate of increase has gone up.' Thank you Gov Cuomo for speaking the truth and to MSNBC for covering his briefings. Now, please stop covering the misinformation spewed by Trump Cuomo had the chance to buy more ventilators back in 2016 but failed to buy more! So playing the blame game is wrong and if he still wants to do it look in the mirror!!😝

Coronavirus: New York Infection Rate Is 'Doubling About Every 3 Days,' Cuomo Says New York is fast becoming “the canary in the coal mine” for the U.S.'s coronavirus outbreak, Gov. Andrew Cuomo says. The state's cases are doubling every 3 days — and despite shelter-in-place orders, they still haven’t flattened the curve. 😞 Takes two to three weeks if we go by other countries experiences. I heard earlier that Louisiana is the new Ground Zero?
