HOPE delivered a spring/summer collection focused on freedom of expression through clothing.
The cohesive, well-build collection full of high quality, tailored garments fit HOPE’s androgynous identity, yet following the innovative take on genderless we were given last year, some of the pieces simply fell flat in comparison. HOPE strives to emphasise inclusivity in their designs, which are free to interpret however you wish. This vision is highlighted in the video, where male and female models play dress up, mixing and matching and swapping clothes as they go. As the video progresses, it is noticeable however, how the ratio of “typically” feminine clothing has decreased majorly this season, to the point where none of the pieces showcased could be labelled as solely womenswear.
The simple workwear colour palette of black, cream, grey and beige was momentarily enhanced with cerise pink fabric in that signature crinkly texture, but that and pale blue were some of the only bright pools of colour we could spot. Choosing to turn focus to silhouettes and materials instead, we liked the striped linen reminiscent of traditional Indianand the oversized summer staple suit with a playful tie around the neck.
