Third-ranked Corner used a pair of 5-run innings to pull away and capture the Class 4A baseball semifinals on Friday with an 11-3 win over Westminster Christian in Huntsville.
Corner improved to 31-7 on the year with the Game 3 win in the best-of-three playoff semifinal series. The Jackets split with the Wildcats on Thursday, losing the first game 4-3 and winning the second 7-5. Corner starter Brendan Conner went the distance on Friday, allowing 3 runs on 7 hits. He struck out 6 and walked 2.
Maxon Hill led the winners at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs. Brodie Dunlap was 1-for-4 with a 3-run double. He also walked in the fourth inning to bring in a run.
