Iraq's top Shi'ite Muslim cleric on Friday condemned the U.S.-Iranian ...

BAGHDAD/DUBAI - Iraq’s top Shi’ite Muslim cleric on Friday condemned the U.S.-Iranian confrontation taking place on Iraqi soil, saying it risked plunging the war-ravaged country and the wider Middle East into deeper conflict.

In the aftermath, both sides backed off from intensifying the conflict but the region remains tense, with Iranian military commanders threatening more attacks. Sistani, who wields huge influence over public opinion in Iraq, only weighs in on politics during times of crisis and is seen as a voice of moderation.

At Friday prayers in Tehran, an Iranian cleric said U.S. interests across the world were now exposed to threat. “Soleimani was actively planning new attacks and he was looking very seriously at our embassies and not just the embassy in Baghdad, but we stopped him and we stopped him quickly and we stopped him cold,” Trump, who is seeking re-election this year, told a rally in Ohio.

Iraq Calls on U.S. to Prepare for Troop WithdrawalThe prime minister of Iraq asked the U.S. to start preparing for the safe withdrawal of American troops from the country, the latest sign of diplomatic fallout from the killing of an Iranian general on Iraqi soil. Of course, it was Iraq that asked for the USA to come and destroy their country in 2003 ... maybe Iraq will present a bill for a few billions also ! the non-controlling parties weren't allowed to vote in that and they all want America to stay. make sure you dont report on that because that's a positive look for America. Trump2020 The US invaded Iraq. They started developing their own infrastructure. Not many Iraqis had asked them to do so. If the Iragi Gvmt now askes the US to leave, they should do so AND without presenting any bill or something in that nature. Ridiculous!!! Leave Iraq - NOW
