The county is planning a return to a near-normal state Monday, including the reopening of government offices after a three-day closure in advance of the storm.
But rain totals were still substantial: From Wednesday morning to midnight Friday, the Northeast Florida Regional Airport recorded 6.4 inches, and the National Weather Service maintained a flood warning for the St. Johns River basin and the Intracoastal Waterway into the weekend. Recycling collection in St. Augustine remained on hold as crews dedicated their efforts to removing storm debris, but recycling facilities are open at three locations:Red Cox Road, immediately behind R.B. Hunt Elementary School
Although St. Johns County lifted its evacuation order Friday following Hurricane Ian's departure, the Solomon Calhoun Community Center in St. Augustine remained open as a post-hurricane shelter for residents forced out of their homes from the storm.The county also opened four locations over the weekend to distribute free water from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday: the Solomon Calhoun Community Center, the St. Augustine Amphitheatre, the Flagler Estates Community Center and the W.E.
