Foreigners worry Beijing will use its developing corporate 'social credit' system as a weapon against international companies amid the U.S.-China trade war

Program will reward or punish companies for their behavior, but foreigners worry Beijing will use it to impose political orthodoxy on international firms

Will only use this system for US companies as US used all country’s efforts to defeat one company: Huawei

Not everybody desires 2lose his virginity, b an open book, join sodom, b known by a group of strangers, participate in group celebrations such as sports or festivals, commit idolatry, et cetra. Some, value their privacy, and desire only 2b known by few, or one. socialmedia

When you go shopping, it is anonymously, is it not ? Else, they might charge you a higher or lower price than what others pay, depending upon your income, employ, ent status, wealth, gender, politics, religious group affiliation, et cetra. socialcredit

The same like credit score.

No

They will do it, just like they do with their Orwellian social credit system, to reward obedience and reprimand dissent.

Accuweatherguy...lol

Not impressed at all!

早就应该这么做!

Every country in the world has the right to take care of their political and economic interests but without affecting those of others. and others respect where they are or want to reach.

We will see American company representatives lobbying American politicians not to anger China. This is going to be the result, because money is going to be more important then defending once own democratic system.

If West can use green as trade barrier ,China will use other way

ButchersRuleBeijing

Western orthodxy is no differejt.

You are free to choose where to do business, and still make profits.

They do it for their social credit score inmate/citizens, they were bound to do it to companies as well. Grading obedience is citizens, ranking compliance in companies, silencing dissent, tracking faces, the Orwellian system in full swing in China.

It works how it wants too. Nobody can steer it except the person the driver seat or else it will break anybody who stands in the the way. It don't care for anybody's status. Nobody wants to be in the way and just let it happen or else your generations will be cursed truth

Awesome, another method of protecting local companies while denying Chinese market to the outsiders.

It's not paranoia if it's already happening

Stupid newspaper

Well, if China does that, companies must get out of there !!! I don’t understand these people, are we going to give up our western values of democracy and freedom What is going on in the world

They will do this regardless of any “trade war” or anything the U S does. This is hi-tech Communism!

Not if the President rips up the WTO.

Great news. Corporations should follow the rules in China while doing business there.

nobodyknk Look at wha happen in Hong Kong, the face recognition towers were installed. Properly they already launched this system in Beijing China freedom

Like what they did to Cathay Pacific. Till now, five pilots and a number of crew are fired with no reason. They desire white terror and complete silence of people. I am almost convinced that they already did it to the foreigners who against china.

The control is tightening up which results in huge risk and cost implications for foreign companies. They don’t have to politically intervene your business like they did to CX, HSBC & MTRC but systematically regulate your company’s activities. Free market? LoL

Obviously, China don't mind to use all the dirty tricks against FreedomOfSpeech and Democracy. How CCP treat Hong Kong is a perfect example FreedomHK

CCP can do everything if they want! Hong Kong is a example

Just like black mirror

For sure China will

Jeez; on their way to becoming a closed society...no one from outside will (hopefully) want to trade with them

As is typical in Chinese politics (and increasingly its culture) the “system” is completely arbitrary and nothing more than a “who we don’t like today” list to be updated, well, daily as politics or other grievances require.

Why not

F China

you can't make money from Chinese with doing harms to our country

Reward and Punishment. Karat and Whip.

...wasn’t their “social credit” their initial problem...asking for a friend...🙄

When war ends?

Sell your souls for money.

They will.
