SHANGHAI - China’s aviation regulator has ordered Chinese airlines to suspend their Boeing 737 Max aircraft, media outlet Caijing reported on Monday, following a deadly crash of a 737 MAX 8 operated by Ethiopian Airlines.
It was the second crash of the 737 MAX, the latest version of Boeing’s workhorse narrowbody jet that first entered service in 2017. A source at one Chinese operator of 737 MAX jets told Reuters the airline had stopped operations after getting a notice early on Monday. The source was not authorized to speak to media about the matter.A U.S. official told Reuters the United States was unsure of what information China was acting on.
The cause of that crash is still being investigated. A preliminary report issued in November, before the cockpit voice recorder was recovered, focused on airline maintenance and training and the response of a Boeing anti-stall system to a recently replaced sensor but did not give a reason for the crash.
Most of Air China Ltd’s 737 MAX fleet of 15 jets landed on Sunday evening, with the exception of two that landed on Monday morning from international destinations, according to data on FlightRadar24. Cayman Airways has grounded both of its new 737 MAX 8 jets until more information was received, the Cayman Islands airline said in a statement on its website.
Breaking News! China will not put one single 737Max back into service until they are all equipped with a Huawei phone.
Not even 2 years in service, less than 6 months apart, this Boeing failure of aerospace technology killed over 350 souls upon takeoff! I’d rather fly on a plane made by Airbus & bombardierjets neverflyBoeing
Williebounce7 it has begun.
Hear that BoeingAirplanes? Do something or all those MAXes are gonna be swapped out for the better, cheaper, more reliable A320neo.
Before Boeing discovered the cause of the accident, China was trying to avoid safety problems as much as possible. PERFECT!
Safety and manufacturing standards in US has fallen for sure.
adowableash After together Ethiopian airline crashes yeah
larry_moyo BoeingAirplanes are responsible for making slack Planes..
Brilliant decision!! All other countries and airlines must follow with similar decisions..

Good call.
I don’t think this is a trade war issue. This is a safety issue. There will likely be a domino effect of countries suspending the use of MAX aircraft.
Trade War
For now, China says 'no' to the 737MAX. But how many more will be grounded? Will orders for the MAX be switched over to the more reliable Airbus A320? Will airlines begin to factor safety over other aspects of the business? Time will tell. But signs are not looking good.
And we better not use it either... It has design flaw!!! My husband the engineer and personal pilot said so a long time ago!! Heads up SouthwestAir, united, and AmericanAir!!!
AvoidMiscalculation Pigzy XiJinping ?
Barely 2 months back, China celebrated delivery of first Boeing737, Max aircraft. Now the Euthopian Airlines accident has made them suspend use of Boeing 737. Prevention is good.
“My 5G networks might well spy on people(or not), but your planes are stone killers!” Boeing will going after maintence procedures on this one hard.
Oh farts
Damn it!!

This couldn't possibly be because China has a state-owned aerospace company that's building a 737 rival, oh no
Forming into the media black communities and where recruitment systems adapt to seek the capabilities of airlines and achieve the prevailing range of systems seeking investigation and formation of monolithic unification
Safety first & no need to look after US interests now.
As should every countries airlines that use this potential death trap.
