The Boston Celtics kicked off Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinals with an emphatic 120-95 home victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday night in Boston.
Celtics guard Derrick White continued his torrid postseason stretch offensively, scoring 25 points on 9-of-16 shootingt from the floor. He hit seven of his 12 three-point attempts and added five assists. Celtics star Jaylen Brown, who led Boston with 32 points, was asked about White's impact after the game.
"If you don't know Derrick White, you better get to know him," Brown said. "That man has been balling and he's just getting started. Hell of a game from him tonight.", and was once again evident with his play on Tuesday night. While Brown played well, the Celtics were searching for a second viable scoring option as Jayson Tatum had an off-night shooting the ball, while Kristaps Porziņģis remains out of the lineup with a calf strain.
White provided plenty of offense alongside of Brown, and played well on the defensive end as well as the Celtics pulled away in the second half for a key first win of the series.
