CDC warns against increased parasite outbreaks in pools, water playgrounds

The number of summertime parasitic outbreaks has been increasing steadily every year since 2009, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Cryptosporidiosis -- or crypto for short -- is the leading cause of disease outbreaks in the U.S. linked to water, specifically in swimming pools or water playgrounds. Another 13% of the outbreaks were linked to contact with infected people in childcare settings, and 3% were linked to drinking raw, unpasteurized milk or apple cider.

This is very disturbing!

It would be nice if parents followed simple advice of keeping sick children away from the public, including pools, and very small children who don't understand basic hygiene (along with adults who have less hygiene than wild animals) also stay out of public pools.

I live near the Gulf Of Mexico. I'm not going in the water again. Not good for all the build up of tourists in NW Fl. & with the huge buildup of condos & more sewage along the Gulf I & the sea level. I wonder where all the poop is going.
