The St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church of Boerne is getting its own school, the first Catholic school in town for decades.

Boerne is close to getting its first Catholic school in decades, with local church leaders saying work could start soon on the $25 million project. The school will be affiliated with St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, one of Boerne 's biggest churches. Plans call for eventually offering classes from pre-kindergarten to the eight grade, said Julie Seguin , the school campaign’s executive director. It's been more than three decades since there has been a Catholic in Boerne , Seguin said.

Political newbie has had to learn fast in first year as Boerne's mayor The school will initially serve pre-kindergarten to either fifth or sixth grade, Seguin said, and will add classes up to the eight grade as students age. There are no current plans to serve grades 9 through 12, she said. While the school hasn't formally set tuition rates, Seguin said annual tuition is likely to be about $9,000 per student.
