California will extend its statewide eviction moratorium through September and offer to cover all missed rent payments to date for low-income individuals

The California deal is likely to be approved by the Democratic-controlled legislature and signed into law by Mr. Newsom, a Democrat, next week, according to people who work in the legislature.

Other states and local governments cover 100% of back rent, but California’s funding for the program, $5.2 billion, would be the largest in the nation because it received the most money from the federal government based on its population, according to the National Low Income Housing Coalition.

Being someone who did lose work because of covid and tried to pay rent as much as I could but seeing as how it ate at my savings faster than I could recoup anything this is saving my ass as I don’t want to be homeless and am trying to find work.

Deduct the money from the paychecks of CA ‘lawmakers’ instead of stealing from taxpayers and witness how quickly more pressing matters will emerge.

My friend's tenant is a nurse who never lost a day of work but decided to stop making rent payments because she could.

How about all of us who scrabbled to pay our own rent or mortgages this past year? This is disgusting, and all due to his draconion shut down orders. So we pay for his mistakes and bailout everyone. RecallGavinNewsom

everythingisstupid

Can someone stop Newsom?! Everyone who is not working is getting enough to cover rent and then some, why’s CA taxpayers taking this extra hit? Things Newsom doing to win recall vote, disgusting

Most of their residents already live rent free in tents lmao smh

CDC extends eviction moratorium a month, says it's last timeThe Biden administration has extended the nationwide ban on evictions for a month to help tenants who are unable to make rent payments during the coronavirus pandemic, but it said this is expected to be the last time it does so. Dr. Rochelle Walensky, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, extended the evictions moratorium from June 30 until July 31. The CDC said Thursday that “this is intended to be the final extension of the moratorium.” And then what? Because that's not going to solve the problem. There should be a similar ban on paying association fees and real estate taxes then until the ban on eviction ends.
