The Wright State baseball commit struck out 11 to lead the Eagles, who will play St. Edward or Highland next week in regionals at Gilmour Academy.

His teammates would not bring it up — an unwritten rule, as junior third baseman Ian Cain said — to not discuss Papay’s no-hitter Thursday during the OHSAA Division I baseball district finals against North Royalton.

Only two batters reached base against Papay, who struck out the first four hitters in North Royalton’s lineup. He finished with 11 strikeouts and one walk.“At the end of the day, he was dialed in,” North Royalton coach Matt Stricker said. “He was hitting his spots.”to lead Northeast Ohio. Stricker had three seniors who not only led this run but played vital roles two years ago, including leadoff hitter Cody Miller, Toledo-bound pitcher Brady Sasse and A.J. Dezzutti.

Once aboard with two outs, Cain stole second and reached third on a high throw during his attempt. That led to a wild pitch, which brought him home for the only run.
