The Boy Scouts of America, one of the nation’s oldest and largest youth organizations, filed for bankruptcy protection late Monday as legal claims by former Scouts of past sexual abuse continue to mount.
The Scouts’ bankruptcy is not likely to affect local Scouting activities but will halt ongoing lawsuits while settlements are negotiated. It also will require new abuse claims to be handled in that venue rather than in state courts. As recently as last week, the Boy Scouts of America said “no decisions have been made” on bankruptcy and that it “does not comment on rumors or speculation.”

Mixed feelings about this. Clearly, boyscouts is doing this to avoid compensating victims fairly... and robbing them of their voices in a short-circuited process. On the other hand, real risk there are so many victims that the organization folds. Protect children always.
The boyscouts could've learned a lesson from the Catholic Church. If you're going to bugger boys in the modern world, you need to own land.

I never let my son join the Boy Scouts of America, at times I felt lousy for stealing that experience from his young life. Now I realize it was the right thing to do. I am sure many wonderful folk have been involved with the BSA over the years, I couldn't take the chance.
It would seem that all organisations where grown men are intensely/obsessively involved with young boys will attract a significant number of paedophiles
