Boeing will cut production rate of its 737 Max jets as it works on a software fix to get the grounded planes flying again after two crashes in five months left 346 people dead

"We have decided to temporarily move from a production rate of 52 airplanes per month to 42 airplanes per month starting in mid-April," CEO Dennis Muilenburg said in a statement Friday. The Max came under scrutiny after it was involved in two fatal crashes: One involving Lion Air last October and another involving Ethiopian Airlines last month. A total of 346 people died in the two accidents. All of Boeing's 737 Max planes were grounded after the crash in Ethiopia.

The latest decision comes the day after a preliminary report on the Ethiopian Airlines tragedy showed that the pilots of that plane performed all of the aircraft manufacturer's procedures, but were unable to control the jet before it crashed.Read MoreOn Thursday, Boeing recognized the similarities between the two crashes, and acknowledged the role of its anti-stall system.

Good

THIS IS PROOF MORE TECHNOLOGY NOT BETTER; MAYBE WE HAVE REACHED THE LIMIT? MAYBE STOP BEING SO DEPENDENT ON MACHINES NOBODY CAN RUN OR FIX...

I hope the families of those 346 people sue the fuck out of Boeing.

Makes you wonder why Boeing's experts didn't know about this prior to any crash.

Life is very cheap.

Cut..!!! That all naa? Close the damn thing... If people die coz the manufacturers are hiding vital information, a hefty consequence is inevitable. Imagine if those crashes happened on US soil. The manufacturers know where the Malaysia missin plan is. They hide information

Cut production? How about scrap complete production!!!

Think about it needing a program to over ride the planes design flaws

' They hacking planes now ' Huge Cover ups behind ' Boeing '

The engines are not designed for that plane. Bombardier built a plane properly for those engines and Boeing made the US government tax the planes 300%. Effectively killing a good plane. Then Boeing started killing people in a dangerous design. MAGA? More like crooks. Flying Pinto

Good idea ?

Cut production because orders are drying up is more like it.

Why does a plane require an anti stall device. Is it because of doubts about the design.

As some sensible bloke said Boeing should have declared and made it a Separate model altogether.

Or they can rename it Boeing Max Kamikaze and sell it to third world countries for further “testing”.

Bad Boeing 😭😭😭

Stop V cut

Perhaps it is time to rethink producing them at all going forward, maybe even scrap altogether. Software concerns, sensor concerns, corrective action system concerns, engineering design concerns, worthless corrective action pilot training. A bad plane all round

This is the real news....

As a software engineer the question must be asked, on safety critical sensors and actuators where was the FMEA analysis on that operation of the one sensor that prevents the plane from stalling. If that sensor fails the plane should keep on flying.

I don't think there's much Boeing can do at this point to salvage their reputation. And i think they owe those 346 peoples families monetary recompense for their losses, then shut em down!!! Only a fool would get on any of their planes after this fiasco. Boeing KNEW about this!!!

BoeingCEO boeingate I’m shocked the realisation that both crashes were linked doesn’t bring production rate to zero, and solve the problem for the other planes that have been sold. has me wondering about safety not only of Boeing737Max and FAA that deems every plane safe!

Someone should go to jail.

Bizim uzay ajansı hangarında bulunan yerli uçak fabrikasının görüntüsünü çalmışsınız ayıp size şiddetle ve esefle kınıyorum saygısızlık bu yaptığınız😂

It's must with out any faults of nations, the worlds are losing so many pople.

What about Boeing's 'flawed sensor?' How easy is it to swap in and out a sensor that will crash an airplane?

Wish the govt would work that fast on gun control! We've lost a lot more than 346 people and children to guns and gun violence!!

Too late !

Even after the fix. I ain't flying Boeing. FoolMeOnce

Boeing’s Reputation is taking off exactly like Audi’s Reputation did after the “60 Minutes” segment on the Audi 5000’s sudden unintended acceleration. Audi’s reputation crashed and almost did not recover. It looks like Boeing’s Stock is going to go into a nosedive

Forget the production rate just stop that specific production doomed 😱

I will never fly in them

Between Two Deadly Crashes, Boeing Moved Haltingly to Make 737 MAX FixesRecent congressional testimony, as well as interviews with executives, regulators and others suggest the American aviation industry had an overly U.S.-centric view about how to handle safety issues, and often a dismissive view of overseas pilots. The speed of Boeing’s response is now a matter of various investigations. The important question is not “when will it be ready” but “who will test and certify it?” In the meantime they had no issue putting the lives of thousands of people at risk. Every person who flew in their aircraft should be compensated as test pilots at a preliminary testing stage. But yet they wanted to keep the plane flying in the US after the latest crash?
